It’s hard to believe, and you may need to take a second glance, but a whopping €300,000 of community-raised funds have brought Slane Community Centre to its current stage!
From site clearance to the nearing closed roof phase, we have been very fortunate and thankful to say that the huge community effort has brought this massive project literally from the ground up!
Whether it was coins in a bucket, tickets for the Monster Draw, tickets for the ongoing Monthly Draw, or the Annual Golf Classic…. every single contribution has brought about this phenomenal outcome!
We have not had to draw down on grants yet which, for a relatively small village, is some achievement! We are currently claiming our two approved grants from Sports Capital and Meath County Council. This will bring us a step closer to making the building watertight.
The patience you have shown over this long journey is gratefully appreciated. The climate we are in has thrown increases in prices and delays with materials with the team on site waiting for orders to come in. Slow by times but steady and the excitement to see our Community Centre come together will be the reward we have all waited for.
Whilst we have come a long way, we still have a bit to go and we really need your continued support. Our Monthly Draw has been the cornerstone of our fundraising for the past two years. Because of its success, we have been in a position to secure a loan so that we will have sufficient funds in place to finalise the first phase of the development. We have not yet had to draw down this loan, but this is a €1 million project and we will need this finance to finish it.
We look forward to bringing our December Monthly draw to you on Saturday the 17th where we will have lots of extra prizes! We will be purchasing hampers and vouchers around the village to acknowledge those businesses whose door has been open year after year when we have looked for help with fundraising events.
